All this waiting around saw an opportunity to go wet my feet in the Atlantic.

At one point I knew Michiel was right behind me and two or three bends in the road further he was suddenly missing.....I stopped waiting to see if he is coming. Has he stopped to take photographs or is there trouble with the bike or did do the unthinkable....
After a short wait I decided to turn around and go and have a look to see whats keeping him. When I came around the bend both Rov Rat and Nismark is parked in the middle of the road helping the stranded Michiel. He was laying on his back with his eyes closed and the color of his skin was a pale grey....I feared the worse. :o

It turned out that both Michiel and the bike is fine. Michiel came down hard on his shoulder and he was in great pain but with the spirit of a lion he simply got back on the bike for some more sand. The sand movie was shot after this fall ::)

Michiel misjudged a sneaky little S bend in the road and coming from soft sand to very firm surface with a fine powdery gravel the front lost traction and the bike went down hard and fast.

Once we got going again things got lekker. The guys were talking about how speed makes the
sand riding easier so we flew down the tracks. I once briefly saw 110km/h on 663's clock!

This was all good until I saw my arse. I didn't read the road surface correctly and lost both wheels
in a corner falling harder than ever. For the most part I skidded facing West and right at the end the
bike spun round facing East and threw me over separating us by about 3 metres. 663 is standing
in the picture as she was picked up from high side.

This put a dampener on my fun as I hurt my shoulder.

R-O-V-Rat told me to lie down as he explained I was "going into shock". For a moment I thought
this might be the end of my trip but luckily it wasn't too serious and a couple of minutes later
663 roared back into life with plumes of smoke bellowing from the Fuchs racing exhausts because
oil found its way out of the engine while she was lying on 'er side.

Back on the old girl with a rather sore body I couldn't resist the temptation of following Dusty, R-O-V-Rat
and Nismark on the alternative tracks next to the ocean. The sand was so soft and deep that I couldn't
ride 663 in 3rd unless I wanted to destroy the engine.
