some days my Life is also a Grrrr, but I tend not to make issues about it, so it turns out ok

If you want to feel what grrrr really feels like drop your bike at the above mentioned place to get fixed, wait for months, never get a call from them and when you finally lose it after months they matter of factly tell you that the bike has been ready for days now but because they don't phone you and you can't smell these things you sit like kiepie die karnallie waiting for a call that never happens and when you go fetch the bike they "overcharge" you on the excess but you pay because you are so g@tvol you just want to leave but then months later you get a warning in the post that you owe them sommer now more money because, well fuck knows.

So yes, fuck Donford.

EDIT: Love that!  :D

OK, does the forum have some new anti swearing software...?!

Because I sure as hell didn't write "kiepie die karnallie" in my original post.

So they replace an almost new old bike with a new new old bike  :thumleft:

Just kidding, glad they are sorting it.

@ Dual, how do you hear 1200GS gearbox noise above the built in gearbox noise?

@ Grrrr...., net soos Lions supporters eintlik fokkol op rugby threads kan bydra nie kan XRL eienaars ook nie eintlik op bike threads bydra nie.

Well frankly I cannot see what you BMW fans are rejoicing about, did the dealer have any option other than to replace or refund? Of course not. If this buyer got his BMW through a grey source, I can guarantee you that BMW would NOT have touched him. But Honda gave the XR-L rider a new bike, despite him buying it through non Honda SA sources. Now THIS is service and back-up!!!
What this highlights though, is that the prospective Sertao buyer must beware! R80 000 is very expensive, and this thread does it no favours.

2SD I'm pretty sure that the new consumer act had more to do with both dealers replacing the bikes than we might think.... especially the Honda deal. Honda is far less customer orientated than BMW. As for the BMW case, I think that level of service is what is expected when you buy a BMW at the price you pay. I've had 7 Hondas in the past couple of years and 2 BM's, my own being second hand. Still the BM service was always top notch, no questions asked.

As far as Donford is concerned, I was shocked when they charged me 2,5 times the amount I regularly pay here in Nelspruit for a standard 10h service for my wife's 450. And I had to pay for coffee! Sacrilege!  >:D

What make you so sure about that Oom Daan? I would imagine that BMW with their good service reputation would probably also have done the same, even just purely in an attempt to maintain that perception?

Well, they sell you an "old" new bike, with same old inadequate suspension, leaking after a week, but for the princely sum of R80 000, whose perception are you referring to?

Oom Daan I was referring to your statement that BMW would not have done the same to a grey product similar to what Honda did, which I am not sure I agree with.

I was therefore not referring to the merits/ability of the "new" Dakkie, regardless of how bad it may be

Lets not confuse things here. John is a first class chap and would be an asset to any bike dealer or business ,but just because he is a great chap does not make the  Sertao a good bike. Yes and they had zero option to replace or refund because the law says so. If you have to have one of those old new bikes take the cash and look for a 2nd hand Dakar 650 or better still the x challenge. With the cash you have left over buy a new XR650L.

007, it is well known how full of shit BMW is when it comes to the fitment of "non BMW approved gear", of course they would not help if you grey import that bike yourself, like Cheyenne Honda? did.

The new one might have the same problem"  :laughing4:

Enjoy jou nuwe bike...  weer!
