Well I promised you dogs a report on the new BMW Sertao......

I only had the bike a week when it started struggling to start when it’s hot..... WTF?
I phone Donovan (Donford Stellenbosch) who I bought the bike from, explained....
Again after another week or so.... "It might be the decompression system" WTF?

Finally refused to start after about 2 months and 800 km - battery was buggered with all Struggles.
It also started leaking from the back shock reservoir - back shock buggered! WTF?

UPDATE 1: NEIL BERRY came to the rescue - New bike on its way!

UPDATE 2: My Sertao was replaced by Donford on 19/05! Brand spanking new!!!

Through this whole issue BMW Donford (Neil Berry) walked the EXTRA mile over and over!!
I have never seen so much commitment from a business to solve a problem!

Phoned Donford again..... "Bring her in, or call Road Side Assistance" Eeerh....

I took it to Donford 2 weeks ago - explained the problems again - Back shock was pap!!!! WTF?

Yesterday after no clear answers whether the shock will be replaced and when the camshaft replacement will be done (decompression problem) I really started to feel uneasy..... NO PROPER COMMUNICATION OR ANSWERS FROM DONFORD!!!

Had a call this morning from Service desk (not Donovan) that the repairs should be done in another 2 weeks!

At the moment I have a bad taste in my mouth!!!!

I am really sorry to hear of your problems, it makes me angry as that bike is flippin expensive.. that is crazy.

I don't think I agree with you Grrr, I know many people who have bought bikes from Donford Stellies and they are very happy, I did a lot of research when I was looking for a 1200GS ADV and I would have been happy buying from them based on what I found out.. this is not good news though, I would have expected more from any dealership.

Just phoned Neil (Dealer Prin.) Donford - I told him the honest thing to do is to give me a new bike.....

He promised to get back ASAP......

Sorry to hear about your troubles......well I was there about 10 years ago and was interested in a GS1200 - they promised to get back to me....after a few years of waiting (and some follow up calls from me) I kinda gave up.....they clearly didn't want to make a sale

I'm sure this is a once off....all the press bikes had more than 800km on the clock, and we rode them like we stole them, not one mechanical issue, shocks neither.....

Make fire under their arses!!! If this is the same engine as the old Dakar[but it's not, is it?] this will be a once off, that old Rattex motor was really reliable. But now it is China.....

have to agree that kind of issues on a brand new bike i smell lemon

push for a new bike - its just not on that have this kind of issues on something thats brand new period
