Soft bags on a 690
« on: May 08, 2012, 05:08:57 pm »
Was messing around with my Kappa bags, found if i fit them high up then they wil be fine, as the just lie in the side covers, just one section at the rear is near the pipe. Thought if i just bring a flat bar down from the grab handle and as in the pic with the peice of paper showing will do the trick, any thoughts. Hope the pics are clear?

Otherwise only issue is the bags rubbing on the plastic can leave marks , but i thibk i will fashion a cloth or towel to look after that!

Wait till you see the rack I had made. I had an extra 4 made so there will be some available.
It's a friggin' motorcycle, it's not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The windnoise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you scared every now and then. Suck it up. -- Scary Gary Mc

I need the tie down points for my giant loop and it protects the plastics from scuff marks. Also I mount a top box for town use. Remember mine is a delivery bike. So I need a rack.

I am also looking at pannier frames for my soft luggage - to keep it away from the plastics and exhaust.

It will be nice to see what you did :thumleft:

LanceSA you have every 690 owner waiting to see the frames you made up. Is this going to take long? :pot:

Hi All

This is what I have on my 690. I often use the "topbox" type bag but not the racks a lot. This was made by someone in east London area. I can try and findout what his details are.
You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who they think can do nothing for them.

regarding the posts on WD post on soft luggage, here is my solution:

http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=106243.new#new

I launched the product two weeks ago, (I am a Forum Vendor) and it is going very well indeed!

Video here: http://youtu.be/NNt-V8N5xX0

R2199 for both bags the tail pack and the pillion seat pack.

(or R1899 at the Rhino Rally - direct).

And yes, its waterproof, and yes, it was DESIGNED to carry tents!

Cheers
Chris

Hi All / Zebra

If anyone is going to fit luggage racks on the back or put any weight on the back of a 690, you would have to replace the subframe bolts and the tank (bottom ) pin, as this will brake, like mine did. They all brake in time.
You can contact PSP Racing (Cape town) for these bolts or order them from Rally Raid in UK.

Zebra: just trying to warm all about this problem with the weight, and all of the best with the sales.
You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who they think can do nothing for them.

thanks, Hooli,, had heard of at least one breakage, was unaware it is a specific problem - one bnefit of my system is that is weighs just 2.4 kg for both bags, empty, of course, so the ADDED weight is negligible, but point taken!

Thanks :thumleft:
