Yes, we have been trying to figure out the budget ourselves, the beer blurred some of the expenditures.......
In essence we each spent R 7 000 per person over the 14 day, but this included some spares still. So in summary, our budget looks something like this per day
Bike Trip Average Cost
Accommodation R 100.00 (Accommodation varied from R 60 p/p/n to a max of R 190 (Luxury room in windhoek)
Fuel per day R 175.00 (We did travel quite a bit and I think on average this should cover it)
Food R 80.00 (Food is fairly cheap, we did not eat that bad, but buying for 3 helps)
Beer R 100.00 (Beer cost between R 12 to R 15 along the way)
Average per day R 455.00
12 days R 5 460.00
Treats R 800.00 This is the odd trip into Soususvlei and expensive dinners etc.
Total Budget R 6 260.00 per person
Car trip (trailer)
Fuel R 3 500.00 (By far the biggest expense - 1 400km's x 2 pulling 3 adv bikes)
Road taxes tolls R 700.00
R 4 200.00
Per person R 1 400.00
Total Per person R 7 660.00 Apart from the above we did have to spend some "capital" as we had nothing to start with, some essentials I would recommend:
Sena bluetooth system R 1 250. per person ( a must , communication is awesome)
Sleeping bag R 100. anything more is unnecessary
Tent R 200. It was fine
Rock Straps R 175. Truly amazing ask Liam
Dry bag R
Cant remember , but it is really worthwhile
Oxford Soft Luggage R 895 - I think - this is cool when you drop the bike in rough terrain
Tankbag a must!!!
Take tubes, learn how to repair tubes and change a tyre ........................a clutch lever in the sand did come in handy .......
We did come up with a complete packing list as well, with the help of the forum amongst other, I am happy to share it so let me know, however we did not really take everything on the list but it is fairly complete..............
