Howzit Tassos,

I am based in Essex, UK. Might not be close by but still closer than SA from you :)
Harry Dunne: According to the map, we've only gone 4 inches.

Err... I am actually just across the border from Geneva. Dortmund? It wouldn't surprise me if the UK boys are actually closer than me. :dontknow:  Anyone care to check it out on some mapping software? There is a ADV rider get together int eh Dolomites in July. Check out the "upcoming" & "Europe" forum on www.advrider.com for some info.

According to Mapsource world basemap:
I could'nt find Haute Savoie but from Lyon to Dortmund is 669km as the crow flies. From London to Dortmund is 525km (again as the crow flaps)

If you are trying to locate me on a map, try Annecy or Geneva. I am equidistant from either. My little town only shows up on VERY detailed maps! Haute Savoie, is the department where I live. Almost like a departmental region. These regions make up the provences. My province is the Rhone Alps. Make sense?  :D I am maybe about 100 km east of Lyon.

By your command...

I chose a point between Annecy and St-Julien (along the 201) which gives me 616km

Hey! I just remembered that I spent a week in Dusseldorf commuting to Wuppertal every day to do some company's taxes. That's near Dortmund (sort of...)

<edit line>
I'm really sorry for hijacking your thread Tassos - It's just that we like to bond with our far flung countrymen when we can.

I think I found you on GoogleEarth Kev. It's not a very good sat pic though:
