First accident on the bike :(

I feel your pain Francois. Glad you are okay. I also had my first accident in February this year. I have always been very vigilant when driving any where on the road. BUT, my accident took place in a parking area at a garage. The guy was drunk (14:00 in the afternoon) and sped of from the pumps not looking and hit my just behind my right leg. Of course, he did not have insurance, AND had the cheek to blame me for the accident...CCTV evidence, eyewitness testaments and a day at the police station it was all sorted out two weeks ago.

The morel of the story is...it is a dangerous hobby / lifestyle we have chosen and we must always assume that no place on or off the road is safe...except if you are washing your bike in your driveway, behind a closed gate with large dogs (the four legged type) running around.

Just get back on your bike and slowly build your confidence (after my accident I took my bike on the back roads one Sundag afternoon, just to get rid of the nerves)

Keep on riding and look out for yourself.

Francois, a retorical question mate. I am also glad that you weren't hurt or even killed with this moron doing what he did. 

Where is the law? Under some frikkin tree trying to catch speedsters!!! There is a law against texting, using a cellphone while driving..... Screw this -- This oke must get the full brunt of the law!! Lay a claim of negligence and damaging of private property against him...

Take him 2 pieces - hit him with the law over his farken head !!!!

Biggest problem is I don't have money to take him to court.  I don't have the means to pay to get this bloody idiot to pay up.  And the SAPS is no help at all.

Do you have insurance?
Use them to nail him, that is what you pay them for!

oh please.. are you saying that only the rich deserve to be on the road, what BS.. I only got insurance for the 1st time about 2 months ago but have been riding since 07', just because someone cannot afford insurance does not mean they cannot enjoy the roads in saftey, or are you special in some way?

Sadly if you don't have money for insurance you don't have the money to sue the oke.. in which case if he decides to tell you to get knotted there is not much you can do, even if you do sue him, count on about R8k - R12k in legal fees and about a year to get some kind of judgement if you are lucky.

run around and get the quotes.. and hope he pays.
