Tasmania Ride.
« on: May 14, 2012, 09:44:46 pm »
Did a ride taking in Ben Lomond mountain pass in 1-2 degree weather with a slight sleet coming down. This is the first time I have appreciated heated grips.
Riding Tasmania is great as is mainland Aussie, but Tassie has the upper hand here.
A few photies.(if I get this right)

My brother lives in Melbourne so Tassie is literally a short flight or ferry ride away.  Tassie is incredibly beautiful - kind of like the Scottish Highlands meets the Garden Route  ;D  You have everything from mountains to rivers, snow to the beach, it's one of my favourite places anywhere in the world  :thumleft:

Thanks, I will look through pics & see what else I have as we didn't really take many pics while riding, it's a schlepp to stop all the time for pics.

@ Varadero, agree with you on Tassie, fantastic island and the only heritage site in the world to claim 7 of the 10 criteria to be classed as a World Heritage site with over 20% of the island.

Believe it or not you can ride practically anywhere you want as long as there are no signs reading "No Dirtbikes", just pull off the dirt road & go extreme in the forests! This also applies to camping, camp in any park as long as there is no sign saying "No camping" Facilities are really clean with free gas braai's all over the island, all they ask is that you leave them clean which people over there do.
