Hey Ho Photography Campers

I have been wanting to start a Thread so we can Chat about Editing and STUFF

Photoshop CS 3 4 or 5

Lightroom 2 3 or the new 4

Adobe Elements 6 8 or the new improved 10

So Im a JUNKY when it comes to this software , guess thats why im a master of none  .


For example I JUST Discovered PHOTOSHOP PLUGINS - WOW WTF , why didnt i know about these  

I have a 400 meg file of TOPAZ plugins if anyone wants

Would love to chat to like minded people about this

I've just started using CS6 (Photoshop and After Effects), I'm more into the creating side of things rather than pic editing, the new photoshop has some amazing improvements to content-aware engine etc.

This is an HDR

Its a combination of 3 photos shot at -1 zero and +1 exposure

Using software like photmatix you blend all 3 to show all high and low lights

Here are the 3 original photos

Editing photos to the extent of the above is not really photography I agree with you on that,"you can't print it and say you took that photo". but I get inspired to get out there more and experiment and learn more techniques

The art of "good ol photography" died with film.  Photography will never go back to its original roots.  But that's just it. Photography is ART and it evolved to what we see today. No modern day photographer is without some photo manipulating software. But then again, no modern digital camera captures images as film did.

I say "viva digital" but I'm also thankful that I learned my skills in the film days.  Being a pro photographer in those day was much easier because if you knew your equipment then you would be one in ten thousand who can pull of a difficult shot but nowadays any mik-en-druk can do the same.  I used to charge R3000 for a wedding in the late 80's excluding development/album or any post shooting involvement. I used to shoot 6-10  36 photo rolls and just handed them over to whoever paid me.  The vast majority of my photos I have never seen but I know I was good because nobody ever complained and I always got referrals.  Those where the days.  

I feel sorry for today's pro's. Its MUCH harder work to make a success with photography nowadays.

You will be surprised to know what the people where able to do in dark rooms way back then.  They could achieve much the same results as our HDR compilations.  Remember that one of the big shortfalls of digital is what is know as "dynamic range".  Film had a much broader range and that means it captured with the same exposure far more detail in very dark and very light areas.  Using darkroom techniques those details could easily be brought out.  HDR is the way why can overcome the narrow dynamic range of digital cameras.

Of course its still a photo that you took AND you can present it that way.  What's wrong with it?  I love hayleyscomet's HDR version and it is obvious he went for the arty feel while I went for a more natural feel.  More in-line with how the eye would actually see it.  However, as art I would rather hang a poster size print of hayleyscomet's version than mine simply because it challenges what we see as "normal" .

Hey Guys and Dolls

Had to go see clients in Wolseley Ceres and Worcester last week.

SO the WIFE suggests I go sleep over and take camera with.
