I agree with all above.
I will not drill holes in my car or bakkie to fix a numberplate permanently. I've never lost a numberplate through the normal fix method anyway. And do they think that a few screws/riffets is going to stop a car/bike/bakkie being stolen. They wish ....
I also had...
I bought a cheap topbox as well (jonway, I think) and put it on my KLR. Doesn't look bad and it holds. Have been through a few bundu bashes and it has not cracked or fallen off. It actually has a nice base-plate.
It beats the one I saw at our local Suzuki-dealer by about R1000. It's lockable...
Thanks as well for the heads-up. Will be working on my bike this week - hit a damn big rock in the veld this morning and cracked the oil 'sump' :'( (down on the left side). So while I'm at it will be checking the bearings as well.
By the way Welsh - your pic of the KLR deep in 'troubled...

Hi.
Just been in that area visiting my folks. A thought for your trip on DAY 4 ......
From Steytlerville you guys can take a gravel road over the Elandsberg. It's about 60km and you'll come out close to Patensie (that's where me folks live) - the road over the berg will be a nice adventure...
If nothing serious comes up during that weekend, I am in as well. My brother-in-law will probably join as well. (Will see if we can convince the wifes)
We will be coming from Klerksdorp - bit of a strech on the bikes - did you say we will be able to get there by car towing a trailer?
And...
Sorry for answering now only - was a bit out of circulation (no I did not flip the bike and landed in hospital)
The wheelies did not go to bad - bit rough around the edges. But it's getting there. It is amazing how with just shifting your weight a bit can have such an effect.
By the way ...
Hi again all.
I went and took the advice of a certian somebody on this site - went riding in the veld. Streams, sand, mud - had a VERY GOOD TIME!! Fell a few times (to be expected) but no damage to man (okay, maybe a bit of ego damage) or machine.
I would like some tips on how to lift the...
Thanks everybody. Now I really feel welcome. Read my story when I took Gideon's advice today:
Took the bike out to my little farm. All went well until I tried to cross a 'little' stream. Didn't expect the sand to be so soft & did NOT take the weight of the bike into account.
Eventually...
Please excuse me
I did not officially greet everyone before submitting a post. (Was corrected by Gideon). So here goes:
HI ONE-AND-ALL
