Yeah the early LC8s had their known teething issues: https://www.ktm950.info/how/ktm_950_issues.html
I am still amazed by the perceived (assumptions of note) reliability differences between KTM and BMW. Both brands manufacture highly reliable motorcycles.
However:
I had problems with my former...
Yes but with respect, the BOTT is hardly a serie that could be noticed on the international scene. The RC8's success cannot be judged on this local race serie, I was referring to WSBK, which was KTM's aim at the time.
I would actually make a massive assumption by saying that the RC8's success...
Very well summarized, because I'm very much the same.
I have no brand allegiance, hell I don't even own a KTM or BMW anymore. I'm having a good Italian affair at the moment.
I posted this info to raise a few points, worthy or worthless depending whether you're a blind and sensitive fanboy or...
In 2014, KTM sold 158,760 motorcycles. BMW in the same year sold 123,495 units.
KTM remains the largest European motorcycle brand.

Yes but at least Toyota gives you the choice between the civilised and comfortable Hilux 4x4 and the rugged Land Cruiser 79.
The later Hilux is definitely different from the old ones, but the segmentation is clear.
Perhaps, but the Hilux also made a name for itself on actual consumers feedback who are for most small and medium business owners who depend on the Hilux's reliability and its ability to take a beating on a daily basis.
I love the Ford Ranger, no doubt. But every hardcore 4x4 enthusiasts/experts that I have met said it's not the best offroad bakkie at all. Something due to its overall sheer size. Apparently the Mitsu Triton is a gem offroad. I have the 4l V6 Hilux and it's all I need for my trips in bad...
Sani Pass is about the scenery IMO. I did it on my 4x4 Hilux recently, I didn't even bother putting it in 4x4. One could easily do it with a Polo on a dry day.
But then I listened to an old chap who said he was doing some parts in low range! :eek7:
