H Loneman I did a similar trip in 2014. Was a while ago and I did a slightly different route, but there are some similar aspects to what you want to achieve. I would suggest you take the R59 via Vereeniging to Heilbron, Petrus Steyn , to Reitz and then Bethlehem. That whole route was re done a few years back and is in excellent condition. I always use that route.
