Sorry. Didn't see your "Wildthings"departure point. I can't see that you can reach the Vaal river only by using gravel roads. You could follow the railway line from Kliprivier/Boswell circus area, but you'll probably only be able to go as far as Meyerton or close to Vereeniging that way.
