Nope...was main one on the left
It's obviously not completely gone. As starting and idling is not affected....only under load
Strangely the defective stick coils impact on the GSA is more severe than it had been on HP2
Ok
Of course it would be the last of the 4 stick coils I tried....thanks Murphy....and hp2 running like a dream...GSA sounding sick under heavy acceleration
So I will have to fork out some hard earned dosh and buy one top stick from BMW..
That is unless there is a WD out there with a working...
Hi ouens
5. DustyDog (buite aksie totdat ek my HP2 se "misfire onder load" probleem uigesort het)
Dink nie ek gaan dit Witsand toe maak nie. Dis ook bietjie te ver vannie kaap af vir 'n naweek trippie.
Ek sal maar droe bek na die tyd na all die fotos kyk.
Geniet dit.
OK
Did a bit more research on other boards and found someone with R1200 showing exactly my bike's symptoms. Also only under hard sudden acceleration. This was solved by replacing all 4 stick coils without trying to diagnose which one was defective.
A few other threads suggest symptoms...
Thanks all
I have a 2006 1200 GSA as well as the HP2.
It looks like the coil stick setup is identical.
What sequence do you guys propose. Or does it not matter. Just replace one at a time and test ride in between each switch over?
Hi
Took HP2 for a spin and noticed a weird fuel starvation problem
If I grab a handful of throttle, the engine sputters and blurp blurps and loss of power
If I ease of the throttle and smoothly and slowly accelerate the engine purrs perfectly and smoothly and power is unaffected
At 120km/h...
Hi
Hope your problem got sorted..if not belated response below
Had similar issue on my starter and sadly not good news
Everything on the starter is serviceable parts....except the actual starter drive gear
It is has a kind of clutch bearing assembly that is sealed and starts to act up...
Hi there
Not new on forum, but lets say rather inactive for far too long, feel like introductions are in order
My HP2 is back on the road (should that read off road?) and looking forward to connect with some of you out there somewhere

Hi All
I joined in 2011 when I was going to buy a GS1150
That never happened
I did however buy my first bike ever in 2012 a BMW 1200 GSA
I have since learnt to ride and gone offroad and learnt how to fall.......in sand.......in style
A forum member reminded me of the forum, so here goes...

I'm a Capetonian from the deep south (read behind the mountain (ma ne agter die klip nie) but my passport, visa and imunisation card is up to date so I can venture beyond the "boerewors" curtain, if needed that is.
