Another thing is the oil itself. I see they specify a 20w50 for the mini. Not sure if there is anything else needed for the gearbox but i recon it wil be fine with a decent oil like gtx or rimula or total quarts. This is an old type engine with quite large clearances. So if the oil is too thin...

I will not bother with valvestem seals. The seals are designed to allow a minute amount off oil past them to lubricate the valve stem and guide anyway. They cause heavy smoking on start up. It could just be oil rings that is stuck. Will need to read a bit back. Have the engine been rebuild? The plugs with the brownish white tips shows airfuel is as good as it will be on unleaded. The sludge in the cooling system could be residue that was inside the engine that came loose also just...
