Everyone has warned me against them and to stick to the OEM especially if you are doing losts of dusty tracks. I always carry a clean spare one on longer rides. And they can be washed and reused.

So why wear any protective gear? Ya just like the HANS system in most motor vehicle racing, it never existed , and today it saves hundreds of racers lives. Sure we don't all race on bikes and not all of us feel that we need a neck brace. If a couple of thousand rand CAN help me survive a fall...

very true, I am just trying to create a deterrent. No matter what, if a willing party wants to break into or steal something they will.
