I am doing a lot of MS Excel stuff at work lately, estimating a whole lot of things for a feasibility study. One might even say that I am Excelling at my work...
We do a few of these studies every now and then and in a way I take a similar aproach to things that I do in my personal life. When...
It is not shown in the CAD, but I will put a small door on the lower right side that will be used for the fire to pull in air and then also for cleaning out ash.
Will also make an adjustable latch so I can use this side door as a throttle if I eventually decide/manage to smoke or bake...
I think I have the design fairly close now.
I have made the opening only 160 degrees to cover the back of the grid section and also leave the front open. Makes for a "flatter" door as well.
And then, after looking at the cost and weight of steel, changed from 5mm to 3mm angle iron and flat...
I found another use for sawdust.
By the way, it was not only sawdust that was used in bread in the old days, but also lime (if I remember correctly).
Quite impressive how this guy can guess the wood by smell and taste.
Wanted to see hoe thin I could turn the triangular lip part. I wasn't very successful, but here is one part.
Yes, I even tried adding some detail.
When my wofe asked what it is for, I said it is for constipation relief. The recesses on the back is so you know how deep it is.
Actually, it is...
I got these rose wood skirting pieces from my boss. Thet were leftovers from a kitchen that was reinstalled in his house.
Unfortunately, the are laminated and not solid.
I cut the lip off, then the step part, and was then left with a thick squareish part.
So no one?
Ok, ok. The two on the left is random braai wood. Even managed a lovely shiney finish on the lefte middle one.
The two on the right are rose wood. It was slightly more difficult to get them shiney (they stil aren't), but at least the rose wood has a great smell when working with it.
I don't have a solid thing to bend it on. I was thinking on having the jaws of vice slightly open and then bend a little at a time. Just not sure what I will be mounting the vice to to allow me to pull on the thing because I do not have a sturdy work table
Some time ago I found a board that I glued maybe two years ago. It had a ugly hole in it, that I plugged with a round wood puck, poorly. But I still decided to try and turn it into something.
I sharpened my chisels probably 4 times in the process. The wood made lovely, long, thin streamers as...
