Hi, I am looking for XR500RE 3rd and 4th gear. or better yet, the whole gearbox. Someone mentioned earlier on in the year that they had one for me but never came through  :-\ I believe the XR500 gears are the same...if a knowledgeable person could chime in though please... will XL500 gears...

Thanks, that definitely looks like the way to go. In the meantime I will have a look at trying to take up the slack. I finally got to use the lathe, not for any precision piece but I was busy with some stainless fabrication that required some uniformity once installed on-site. There is a 50x50...

The first bit goes in but then its as if they hit something that stops it from going in further for the tapered part to go in. will definitely try what you have said and also get more pics. Thank you.

FINALLY got a lathe...a cheap Taiwanese one, but Im sure it will be good enough for me to learn on. My First problem ... the live center and drill chuck that came with the lathe don't fit into the tailstock... I might be having a blonde moment but they should just slide in right...

It went to a Gomboomer unfortunately. Funny story though ... I sold an XR400 to buy this bike from someone near Knysna. The guy that bought the KLR just sold his XR400 and guess where he is from..... yeaup..... Knysna.
