Travels through God’s own motorcycle country

Mate!!!! What a brilliant chronicle of the trip. If I get it together Im going to figure a way of getting it in a PDF, and to keep it for posterity. Well done. And what awesome pics. And most of all, thanks for planning that brilliant route. I doubt it gets much better than that.

Travels through God’s own motorcycle country

Hi Gents, On the subject of whether its cool to be in that conservancy on a bike. I'd say totally no. Its my opinion, and we all choose to ride these bikes where and how we want. But... my biggest downer of the whole trip was being stopped by a guy from Wilderness Safaris in a game viewing...

Travels through God’s own motorcycle country

The night in the community campsite was pretty wild. We’d arrived late and the guy with all the hunting equipment was in high spirits. He was evidently offended that we were not going to pull up by his fire to eat zebra. As we made our excuses he insisted on jumping on the back of the midgets...

Travels through God’s own motorcycle country

Im seeing Ian's pics for the first time. Brilliant hey? By this time the trip was totally finding its groove. This was the best riding ever. We were all filthy and time had readjusted itself around the natural rise and fall of the sun, and our movements and thoughts were consumed only by food...

Travels through God’s own motorcycle country

Last trip I made with these gents - which was somewhere like up the West Coast and Richtersveld or something I was totally undone by that bloody sand. Its demoralising not being able to get on top of sand on a long sand trip when your mates are flying along and having to wait. So I spent months...

    Kaokoveld - eaten by lions!!

Im going to take a shed load of flares and hope that one of us is awake to light them if need be. Which seems a bit unlikely really. And that they wont just get the lions irritated. I figured we could play lion's roars on a speaker to scare the elephants, but then realised that we'd probably be...

Wanted - DRZ400 IMS Fuel Tank

Hi Barry, Im actually just getting a bigger 28l safari tank for my DRZ. So I will be selling my 4 gallon IMS tank when it arrives. Probably in a fortnight or so. Its in Cape Town, and Im about to go on some travels, so this might not be your easiest option. Let me know though. Tom.

New Leatt GPX 5.5 neck brace & Chest Protector 5.5 Pro HD - improvements needed

Exactly the same thing happened to me with my Leatt GPX 5.5. All the bits fell off. Same as Maxthepanda. I dont think they're completely necessary. But then either dont have them at all, or put them on properly. Come on Leatt... can this be sorted?

Best luggage rack for DRZ 400 - Advice please ?

Yeah, I'll put some more pictures up. This is what I have for now - excuse quality. The guy is a welder that used to work for Link Engineering, doing a lot of stuff for KTMs I think. His name is Gavin and his number is 078 9114157. I got mine powder coated, which took the price up to 2,200...

    DRZ Fuel tanks

Well, I reckon if the tank has done the Amageza that does it for me. But N[]va Im loving that  wr450 tank! Wish I'd done the same with mine. I have a new frame there now (very nicely done by the way, can give contacts of welding guy for anyone that need it) so that rear tank wont fit. My mate...

    DRZ Fuel tanks

Hello good people. I just fitted a 4 gallon IMS tank to my DRZ 400E… Anyone got any experience with this tank? In particular, anyone know how you get the fuel from those lower bits of the tank, by the radiator? The reserve fuel pipe goes up about 1 inch from where the petcock joins the tank...

Ngola Kingdom: Motorcycle (mis)adventures in south-west Angola

While I still feel sick to the core at my experience of this trip, it seems wrong to spoil this yarn by leaving my fat turd of silence at its exit. This is Tom, the one that was left behind. I wont even try and describe how disappointed I was. Something like a falling feeling. Or rather being...

    The DRZ Thread

These are great ideas. Been perving in www.wheelingcyclesupply.com already. Thanks. And I'll call those guys in SA to compare prices - though Im thinking if Im putting in an order from the US, and I go to a place like wheelingcyclesupply.com, I may kind of get a bulk shipping price... Shame...

    The DRZ Thread

Thanks! Looks like a beauty. Have you ordered an extras for yours? Im hoping to get a place where I can order everything in one go and expect it all to fit this model of bike (2006 DRZ 400E).
