The Bison did indeed 'snort' and with with those pipes sounds wild.
Here are a few final pictures before he is led away.
We will miss the space you leave behind.
Thanks for the opportunity to build 'The Bison' with you Dave...you have been a pleasure to work with.
The bombs are placed at a specific section of the header pipe. Too far down, your low-end power could drop, too far high up, your high-end power could drop. It can go either way really. Can't say for sure that it will RUIN your engine parts, but there is always something that could go wrong...
Only once these bikes are complete do you start finding problems. Such as a wire that isn't connecting to the recharge terminal for the battery, causing the battery to just drain. Then BOTH brand new NGK sparkplugs giving faulty spark! :dousing:
Also, simple things like making sure the...
Okaaay loving the questions on the Powerbomb!
To be exact, this is a copy on FMF's Megabomb idea. It wasn't done to the exact science of the FMF company's so the characteristics of the two will greatly differ as you'll probably expect. The expanded chamber acts as a resonator as well as changes...
Carburettors were cleaned and look good as new! Dave comes from an enduro/rally background and with the TwinDuro's around the wheels of this BMW it's blindingly obvious this bike will see many gravel roads in it's time, so putting individual filters on the carbs would just be looking for...
The idea for the bike was to put twin headlights upfront as with the rally bikes setup, but plans changed as the bulbs in the headlights were 6V and we're on a 12V system. Basically it was an excuse to choose something else so LED lights it was! Super bright and a great modern approach since...
Frame back from paint and looking good! Little bits and bobs like headsets and yokes, calipers, swingarm and forks etc all went for black, but so far we have the forks, headset and yokes back so we got to work putting the headset bearings in and getting the forks in. Rolling chassis as soon as...
R/H side carburettor taken off, stripped, and reassembled. It seems that during the vapour blasting process there was some grit that got into the sprung section of the float needle, causing it to depress fully. After fitting again the problem seemed to be fixed. Started the bike and it idles...
COLOUR SCHEME:
We based the colour scheme for this bike similar to Dave's mountain bike. Pearl white frame, gloss black accessories and trim. We're going matt black motor and gearbox, gloss black peanut tappet covers, gloss engine badges on each side. All the engine fins are going to be...
Before putting any fuel in the tank, we just hooked up a temporary fuel delivery system and tried running the motor. So far so good. Wasn't running initially and the R/H carburettor leaked like mad. Turned everything off, came back this morning and trie again without adding any more fuel. Voila...
