Small observation from my side....
Anybody know which side of the sump the oil pickup is?
I've noticed my Norden is much quieter on startup, and pretty much never gets the very brief "low oil pressure" warning if I start it on the centre stand.
I only get the low oil pressure warning if...
Might be a combination of the freeplay, and how far your lever is set from the bars meaning it's not disengaging the cluthc completely with how far you're pulling it?
Maybe keep the freeplay the same, but set the lever further out from the bars a bit and then pull and see.
Yeh I'm very aware of NOT slipping the clutch too much now that I have it. I also find playing with the angle and amount of cable play at the "slave" lever itself can dramatically alter how soft/hard the pull is. If you get it wrong you got al the negatives with barely any reduction in pull...
Did Winterton/Bergville, Oliviershoek-Clarens about a month ago. A little pothole hear and there and very small section of roadworks on the Oliviershoek twisties but otherwise nothing jumped out at me.
There's a section near the Amphitheatre Backpakers where there's a bit of a dip/bump in the...
One thing I did find is the 890 has wider finger followers which should help reduce the pressure on the cams slightly. And they are cheaper than the old 790 parts and interchangeable. But there are still failures happening on the 890s as well.
There are so many theories because there are so many instances of this now. The Internet obviously amplifies the failures, but the fact that there's a whole FB group about it.....Yeh. And if you ask a KTM dealer about it you'll ikely get the "Oh we haven't heard of any failed cams here" even...
Man. I've looked for the Unicorn jacket for a while.....and Now I have acupboard full of the bloody things. I probably need to sell a few.
- KTM Adventure HQ jacket
Love the look because it's kind of a Street looking jacket, while also being decent mild to cold temp adventure jacket. Can be...
I see there's a Facebook group now for failed camshafts: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1499093983993632
Pretty spectacular failure on their cover pic
Amazing how one lobe is fine and one is fucked that badly. It must be from blocked oil channels or something man. I'm kinda worried...
I mean....It is and it isn't.
From my understanding, most FULL synthetic (Ie Group 4) engine oils are made from Polyalphaolefins. These are very similar to mineral oil but you can think of them as having all their molecules the same size, whereas mineral oils would have some bigger and some...
All of this. (y)
Also, engine oils (even mineral based) contain a fair amount of detergent additives (to clean deposits, carbon etc) and dispersant additives (to keep those cleaned deposits in suspension and not clumping together and blocking shit). So they will turn dark/black and that's...
The first time I rode one was a 1200 Sporty.
I was at what I assumed was about 1/3rd of the way through the rev range and I was thinking "I don't know what everyone gives them shit for....this is not bad at all!" and as I had that thought it hit the rev limiter :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
But ya...
