Ok just a quick update...I fitted aftermarket LED indicators on the bike. I gave up on OEM as I couldn't find any second hand. I'm just waiting for a electronic flasher relay. All in all it cost me about R 280 on AliExpress for everything. It doesn't look too bad either.

Cape Town doesn't get too cold. I just wear my bike jacket with liner, jeans and winter gloves. I'm pretty much used to it by now. I've been communicating on a bike every day for 25 years now.

I think it's probably also due to the fact that it's a very understressed engine. The engine doesn't work very hard in the KLE.

My KLE 500 has 137 000 km on the clock. It doesn't smoke or use any oil between services and has not had any major issues since new. I guess changing the oil and filter every 6000 km with a fully synthetic probably helps.

Quick update...while I'm still looking for OEM indicators I ordered these LED indicators off AliExpress. They were so cheap I couldn't resist. So this will be my backup plan. They look quite cool though...

Ah ok that's interesting. My friend is quite into two strokes and told me there is only one place in JHB that does nicasil plating.

Just a question...did you rebore or hone the barrel? I stand under correction but I believe the BMW 650 barrel is nikasil plated.

Unfortunately that's the problem. I've ordered things from AliExpress that have still not arrived a year later. The SA Post Office is a cluster-fuck.
