Many dealers make a mistake when filling the oil and do it when cold, filling up to the upper mark. Later when the oil heats up it goes over pressure and this causes leakage at all the oil seals and gaskets (like in the pic above) and can cause engine damage. The correct way after an oil...
You do need to experiment. Tried mine for a while on its highest setting but there was turbulence hitting my helmet. It is currently about mid-position and generates a very smooth air flow with no turbulence hitting the helmet.
That's the one I just fitted to the IAT sensor on my 1290 SA. Running cooler in town and much smoother at lower rpm < 4500. Also nicer on deceleration, not quite so abrupt as before.
Hi Bundu, congrats on getting the 1290 SA. Are you still loving it? I'm almost at 3,000 km on mine. No major problems, just needed to richen the mixture a little bit for low-end riding in town on hot days. It's sorted now thanks to the www.sol2.be gadget. As near to the perfect 'bike as I...
Wishing all SA purchasers every success with your purchases after 8th May. You will love the 1290 SA. Despite my complaints about my particular 1190R, the 1290 SA is perfect. I've never ridden such a smooth, powerful and comfortable 'bike until now! No heating problems, wonderful adaptive...
I posted a few more pics at Advrider where my handle is RobZorba. Please feel free to download to your own pic web site, and repost the pics and comments here.
Sorry I couldn't get the images displaying properly here, I tried links from my Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive accounts. None of the links worked because this forum software throws a wobbly if it sees any link starting https: and it does not allow embedded <iframe> tags. So I gave up at...

160 hp is available now in Sport and Street mode, but owners are advised to keep the rpm below 6000, though this is not enforced apart from the red shift light glaring. Just went for a ride in heavy rain, and set the drive mode to "Rain". That does restrict power to 100 hp and I noticed a big...
KTM SE Europe told me they have sold 10 already, and every owner is delighted with the 'bike. They did say that KTM are aware of owner complaints on the 1190 with heat, and so they paid special attention on the 1290 to increasing air flow to the rear cylinder, plus the header from the rear...

PROBLEM - the forum won't display perfectly good .jpg file links from OneDrive when wrapped with img tags. The fault seems to be that this forum software will not display links starting "https://"
It's not just good ... it's absolutely amazing and I've had the best ride of my life between Athens and Corfu (650 km) at average speed of 105 kph, returning 42.4 mpg. It's like another class compared with my 1190R. The engine is smooth, predictable and powerful. It runs cool unlike my...
Yes, I read all the reports and I'm feeling quite optimistic despite the problems that occurred on my 1190 ...

Naah, not messing around with the 1190 to try to get the engine running right any more. It is KTM's responsibility to ensure the AFR is correct. There are obvious problems on many 1190 'bikes with the stock ECU running the engine with an AFR leaner than 15.4, leading to extreme overheating. ...
