I have the Arai Tour X4 and a Shoei Hornet X2 and they are both great and the safety aspects are top notch.
The Arai has better venting so your head will stay cooler in Summer.
The Arai colour schemes are better if the styling is big in your life.

It might also be that your carbs need to be balanced.
My 950 behaves very badly when they are not properly balanced.
If its not that it does sound like extra air is getting into the system somewhere.
Even after that is done though with aftermarket pipes the carb models pop a lot on...
RAD Moto in Rivonia will do it for you.
Get it pressed out a few times bit it will eventually break the rim then you can buy the Excel rim which is much stronger.

I also vote MX boots with ankle protection I would rather be slightly uncomfortable than having my leg screwed up for life.
The big bikes are damn heavy all you need is a small fall and then you wont be riding for a long while.
