    Replacing brake pads

The pads needs to "bed" onto the discs as well. This takes a while. I'm not sure why bleeding will be nessacary, but if you're comfortable with that, it cant be bad for the bike.

    BMW 1200GS Swing Arm

Can this at all be avoided? I've seen the breaks in the past, and is still wondering how it happens? Last guy it happened with told me the garage told him its because of play happening in that bolt that holds the shock. If its loose it starts to hammer that lug and it breaks off. doesnt have to...

    EXHAUST - AIR AGE

Sadly, I have to mention the following: A slip-on , rarely, if ever, result in better performance....on its own. An exhaust "upgrade" only gives better performance when other elements are changed. so if you're after better performance, just know that you will most probably get less kw for your...

    Torque...

A neat trick I learned, is the following: If you mark a bolt relative to the hole in which its fastened(ppainting a white line or such), you can remove the bolt, put it back in and retighten it to the same mark, and the torque will stay the same. Just make sure you use the exact same bolt from...

    Head shake problem

OK, some feedback. It turned out to be the front tyre. Dont remember the brand, but the new tyre started delaminating on the inside. This caused a weak spot in the thread that created an oscilation that felt like a vibration and transferred to the bars. The tyre was replaced with a new one and...

dou you use 93 or 95 petrol? (highveld)

The octane rating is not really connected linearly to the compression ratio. Car engines have better cooling, so can deal better with knocking by cooling more efficiant. Air fuel mixtures in car engines also goes way over the "limit" because of this. The problem with the air cooled boxer is that...

dou you use 93 or 95 petrol? (highveld)

I always use the highest grade, namely 95. The odd occasion where I put 93 I get no discernable effects. But higher is better. The bike engine IS a high performance engine. It only has two pistons and it creates the same kind of horsepower per piston than a new 1000cc superbike. The slightly...

    Which battery for my GS?

The standard battery is off course a very good first choice. Dont know about everyones experience with "5 years" (mine lasted 3). But its a good battery. A battery's "life" is determined by a lot of things, so its not the same for everyone. The Ultrabatt, makes a lot of sense also, and that is...
