I've done the sums up, down and slant ways.  The long and short of it is, a bike is cheaper only if you sell the car and only use the bike. If not you're lucky to break even.  I've just spent 2 weeks in hospital courtesy of the bike, will ride again.  My motivation is straight forward, I commute...
