That is very possible as 90% of my riding has been done on a dirt road between De Hoop Nature Reserve and Bredasdorp, usually following a vehicle making lots of dust.
I tried using some weird stuff called "Weldit", but it didn't work. The bike is now with Overberg Suzuki, so hopefully, they will manage to fix it. If not, I guess it's EBay or lecap

The interesting thing is that the final piece of the puzzle was simply a timing issue. Once the Suzuki guys in Bredasdorp reset the timing, she ran like a beauty again. Since then, I have a new timing chain, new (standard) sprockets and chain, new disc brake pads and it's like having a new KLR...
