If you can't find the short, look for it when it is dark (as in night time) switch on ignition, wiggle steering and see where the little spark jumps.

Ask a KLR guy to help you, they are used to fix that kind of problem on the 08 KLR.

Radiator fan: Replace the 20A fuse witha 10A. If the fan gets jammed (which is unlikely) the 10A should pop before the fan burns or something. Bidvest wants R5385,00 for a new fan.

Honda oil filter with part number 15410 - MCJ - 505 @ R149,00 works nicely on the S10. Bidvest charge R338,00 for the Yamaha filter.

Sorry about the Whiskey moola that you lost McSack :'(  I am a bit baffled :question: by this coil failure, cos the supa ten has 2 spark plugs and 2 coils per cylinder. Now if one coil pops then it means that one cylinder runs on 1 coil and 1 spark plug. This should not have such a major effect...
