Eurospec 4 coming to bikes in RSA

You may be right Dan, however the ethanol content in our fuel is pretty high according to the pro's. Ethanol is pretty erosive and accelerates wear on many parts.

Shops, Dealers and Mechanics on forums

I like Heddles and others has been in the trade for 38 yrs now and seriously thinking of packing it in.  Social media and Google has made my job a tad difficult because the customer has You Tubed the job I have to do before the bike gets to me. He has got over a hundred different views from...

Some Bike Mechanics should be shot

I think our shop is also spoken about here and I would like to know if it was our shop responsible for this. As far as I can tell the last XR650R we worked on was for a top end overhaul in March 2014.

Suspected injector leaking petrol into engine

Probably short circuit to ground on either the camshaft position sensor or crankshaft position sensor. Alternatively and what you don't want, is a short circuit to ground in the ECU on one of those two circuits.

    Why remove an O2 sensor?

In my experience, 99% of O2 sensors fitted to commercially available vehicles are narrow band sensors which has pretty slow response time. On most bikes they only function up to 20% TP and 5500 RPM, this is the closed loop emission area. BMW are the only manufacturers that keep the closed loop...

    Just Bought a 2007 990 Adv Trouble!!!

This is a small issue which should not cost you more than R3500.00, you would need a throttle position sensor and a couple of hours labour. Replacing the throttle bodies would be silly, I have not found any problems with the ISC valve to date or any other part of the TB excepting the TPS.

    Why not 93 Octane

No engine damage can occur by using 93 octane or lower fuel, however 93 is a lead replacement fuel and does contain sulphur. This is a problem for lambda sensors and will with certainty destroy them. With the lambda been damaged by the sulphur, it will read incorrect input voltage and would...

    Remapping

No standard FI system adjust the AFR for a change on your bike, meaning if you change the exhaust or filter etc. Because of emission laws all vehicles have to be equipped with Lambda sensors and this is to keep the AFR at 14.7 afr stoichiometric and is not used to correct the AFR...

    Over priced first services

I agree on the tradesman bit. More often than not a tradesman time, knowledge and experience is considered less valuable than a professional person. Is this true because a tradesman hands are dirtier???!!! I find it offensive that bike workshops are always the rip off. In one room in my workshop...

    Interesting Read

We do individual cylinder mapping on all Boxer and V Twin motors because they use different ignition timing from cylinder to cylinder.
