I'm planning a solo bike trip from Pretoria to Knysna all along the N1 to Beaufort West, then on the N12 to Oudtshoorn and George. The plan is to do this in 3 days.
Any suggestions on overnight accommodation along the way would be much appreciated.

Thanks - I used the A2 last week coming back from SA by car - agree with the number of animals along the road (where do all the ostriches come from?). Was surprised by the number of cattle grids (probably around 12) - was wondering how the bike would react to them...
I'm thinking of doing a trip from Windhoek through Botswana to SA on my 800 GS. Any tips / advice when travelling on the A2, and more specifically on how to handle the cattle grid across the road?
Any advice out there on how I should transport my bike (BMW 800 GS) in the absence of a proper bike trailer? Would a flatbed trailer be preferable to loading it onto the back of a double cab bakkie?
