Looking for an interesting swap, did it once before and it worked well at both ends. I have a 2015 BMW 700 GS, touring equipped and in good condition. Looking for a similar bike, thinking of September, 2023 for a few weeks or a month or two. My buddy with similar bike is also interested in a...
Man, I like the way you put your words down. I'm in Canada and want to do another Africa ride soon (rode once from Cape Town east side to loop around Lake Victoria and back on west side). My bikes there have been the F650 BMW but you have me keening on your joint creation with Taiwan. I'd be...
Ok let me know if I can help out. I have a local buddy here who is more into trails than me (he plans to do some this summer in Canada and the US, and also ride up to Tuktoyaktuk on the Arctic Coast.
Hello Mr. Zog, I see you made your journey to the US. Glad to hear things are working out for you. Let me know if you ever make it up to Nova Scotia in Canada. I remember you well (and Doug) for helping me store my bike in Pretoria when I had to hurriedly get back to Canada. You have a bike...
Scuse me for butting in, I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. When you coming? Welcome here for a night or two. I did a couple Africa trips, including one from Capetown to Kenya on the east side and then back through central and west side.
I have a 2015 BMW 700 GS and a 2006 Kawasaki Super Sherpa 250.
Also I could provide some accommodation in Nova Scotia, Canada to right person(s).
I have done such bike swaps in Canada with success, not internationally.
Mutual trust essential.
holy shit Mr. Zog you are some prolific guy. I appreciate it coz I am a writer and have a bizarre sense of humour.
I am in Rustenbug getting a little problem sorted out on the Dakar. Not far from Pretoria. Gotta move fast on the storage thing though and get my ass back down to CT to catch a...
Hi Dogs, I am just wrapping up a fantastic 4 month ride around Africa on my Dakar. Was gonna sell it but decided to store it and come back end of Sept. from Canada for another go, shorter one this time, then sell the bike.
Meantime I am looking for storage asap near JoBurg as I will fly back...
my son banged into a car that cut him off in the crazy traffic of Dar es Salem. The front forks are bent so need to be replaced. New ones are too expensive. Anybody know of a scrapped bikes where good used forks might be available on short notice for a reasonable price?
Cheers,
Larry
I will throw in some soft luggage with the bike too, and a couple spare tubes, and BMW top box of course.
Getting some offers but too low. This is a Dakar in good shape with low km.
Hi, yes I plan will be riding the bike from Kenya back to Cape Town, coming down from Namibia and down the west side of SA. Heading north I went up the garden route. Could we meet somewhere mutually convenient? I will no doubt be in a rush to sell the bike and catch the plane, though I have a...
mighty kind of you Stevo, will to that. I can send a couple now and couple more later. It is currently being serviced at JJ's in Nairobi, new rear tire, chain and sprockets, oil and filter, etc. Have to give it a good wash first too.
Cheers
Larry
I bought a low km. Dakar in Nov. for a 4 month tour in Africa and plan to sell it when I am back in Cape Town late Feb. It will have about 25K km on it by then and still be in good shape as it has been well maintained and ridden by mature rider with no problems at all. Price will be 39,000...
Thank guys, we have the two bikes now, a Dakar and standard GS. Yes, the commonality of parts was a factor, and I think a 650 is big enough for most parts of Africa.
Cheers
Larry
