2014 GSA LC, rumbling noise/vibration in 4th gear at 60km/h

Thanks. I have replaced the bike and noise has gone. It was coming from the driveshaft. Nothing wrong with the bike, they all do that (GSA)

2014 GSA LC, rumbling noise/vibration in 4th gear at 60km/h

I short shift often, don't see anything wrong with it. If I wanted sports bike I would ride S1000RR. Besides, noise is not related to engine revs but more to particular gear at particular speed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

2014 GSA LC, rumbling noise/vibration in 4th gear at 60km/h

They all do it, more or less. I have traded in on new GS 2 weeks ago and although the noise is not as loud, it's there. Some harmonics from the driveshaft. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Forget The Clutch For Upshifts ???

Famous final words....if done right. You have to be perfectly in sync. More so on shaft driven bikes. My good mate replaced 3 final drives on his K1200S. I have no doubt that one of the reasons was very little use of his clutch. My new GS shifts up and down without a clutch bit you have...

BMW 1200GS or 1200GS Adv for a first bike

Did 250km today, running her in. Going to get GSA screen, it does make a difference. Otherwise, on the road, GS feels like a sports bike...notably stiffer suspension on the same settings as GSA, probably because bike is lighter and has less suspension travel. Not that it makes that much...

Forget The Clutch For Upshifts ???

Although it can be done, why would you want to add additional strain on driveline by practicing to shift without a clutch. Specially downshifts. That's why you have the clutch, otherwise manufacturers would recommend that you use it only to take off and stop. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

BMW 1200GS or 1200GS Adv for a first bike

I dont understand why would you have issues with parts fitted from GSA on standard GS ? Screen, pegs, luggage - what can go wrong there ? I had GS top box fitted to GSA, now moving it from GSA back to new GS. Regarding touring, other than the range, what are the advantages of GSA ? I have...

BMW 1200GS or 1200GS Adv for a first bike

I rode GS around the corner, just to compare the two. Felt like a sports bike compared to GSA. I like performance, speed, handling. 20Kg+ difference really shows. I lie to ride as often as I can, not just to tour or trash it in the dirt. Lower centre of gravity and less weight combined with...

2014 GSA LC, rumbling noise/vibration in 4th gear at 60km/h

As per subject line, how many owners have noticed this? It's not tyre noise and it disappears when you either close the throttle or pull the clutch in - so I presume it's either gearbox or drive shaft related. Internet is full of reports from back in the days of 1150 - no real resolutions, some...

Advice on new 1200GSA rear tyre please!

Anakee 3 rear lasted 10.000km in my GSA. Replaced by Tourance NEXT. I don't think it will last as long but road grip and feel is better with NEXT. Have to disagree about the noise, in my case Metzelers were much quieter than Michelins. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Franschhoek pass.

It's not all that simple... For instance, who is going to find you if you crash over mountain pass riding alone, never mind organize medical assistance. I love tar, ride fast and hard on it, GS or whatever else. If we fear riding, we shouldn't be riding in the first place. On that note, Happy...

    Franschhoek pass.

Miss M - I suggest you read my posts carefully. My issue is not with car drivers, bike riders or space astronauts. I passed a comment on people who feel no pain when (fellow) bike riders crashes.
