Die Hel - The other side

You’re right, it’s not even doable by Graham Jarvis on a plastic bike! The pictures do not do it quite justice. Included is an elevation profile from die Hel road up and over to Boschluyskloof. Kloof. I last ‘did it’ in Oct21. PS there were some hikers that turned back saying hiking it was...

F800Gs BMW Vario topbox with mounting plate, price neg.

Hi Renier, I am interested. I am Durban based but can have it collected from you. I have an F650 (twin) 2008. By the looks of things the bracket would fit my bike? If it does I'll take it off you. Could you confirm that it fits? I can measure the bolt holes to see if they match the bracket.

    Wanted: Luggage Plate F800GS

Hi Skydiver, I found this one on WD and sent it to a lazer cutter who cut it for me (think it was 4mm stainless steel). The burr on the edges did need to be 'polisehed' off, cant remember what the cost was but less than half a 'bought' one. I have the DWG file and can send it to you.

    Motoradical wide foot pegs

I had the same problem on my dirtbike. I welded a line of weld along the bottom edge of the footpeg to build some bulk and then filed it down to the right thickness for the peg to sit square. worked like a charm.

SWA/ Namibia - Grootfontein Military Base

haha all the signalers coming out of the wood work hey Straatkat. I had a lot of fun there, well as much as you could have in the army. At one stage they had me looking after the VTB bungalow (the 'leisure time utilization bungalow'in English) and swimming pool. I was not allowed to swim during...

SWA/ Namibia - Grootfontein Military Base

Haha Db, yes it sounds like it...there was always so much rank there that generally we stayed away. We were also ordered to keep our traps shut even to people from other units for security reasons. The signals HQ, which was in the back wing of NLC' and used to be copied in on all operational...

SWA/ Namibia - Grootfontein Military Base

Hi Crusty, no, I never got around to dong a ride report, it was gonna take to long. We took 18days to get to northern Zambia and then I flew home to Durban. 8 weeks later I returned and we went on to the Zambezi source (NW Zambia on the DRC border) and then turned for home. Unfortunately I don't...

SWA/ Namibia - Grootfontein Military Base

I spent a year there in 1983, at 6 Signals (just behind what was Northern Logistics Command), which is on the left of the main gate. Last year in April I had the experience of passing there on my trip from Durban to the DRC border via C.T., the length of Namibia, Caprivi and up to northern...

The Long Awaited Africa Adventure ..........27 JUNE 2013

Engen 1 stops are great for fuel and Wimpy breakfasts and they're in just about every town in Nam. Also, if someone has a go pro camera as they're far easier than having to slow down, stop and haul out the camera to take a pic to find the animal has fled anyway! haha Travel light, don't take...

The Long Awaited Africa Adventure ..........27 JUNE 2013

Crossing the border is not bad at all. We did not have long waits nor we we treated any differently. If you have all your papers then its a breeze. Be courteous to the officials and a bit of small talk always does wonders. Mostly we found they ( especially the cops) were more curious than...
