    Spray painted my Spirit helmet

Can't argue this point... In Ferrari's defense though, they're not accustomed to making shitty little 6 cylinder engines, whereas Mercedes has been making shitty little engines for a very long time. On another note - where have all the Mclaren, Renault and Red Bull supporters gone? There used...

    Spray painted my Spirit helmet

Let me quickly cut this one off at the knees before I get a world of pain. ;) Firstly, I love my Spirit Helmet and have nothing against Spirit. I think their helmets are comfortable and great value for money. I would by another any day if they sold them near me. Secondly, I wish I had taken a...

    Spray painted my Spirit helmet

The helmet was looking pretty tatty and scuffed from putting it in and out of the top box over the years so it needed a refresh and I don't have the cash for a new one. You know what they say, a change is as good as a holiday.

    Spray painted my Spirit helmet

Spray painted my spirit helmet this weekend and found some decals online. Pretty chuffed with the outcome. Not perfect, but it will do.

    42nd Traverse New Zealand

Hey Donald Duck I arrived in NZ (Auckland) in Feb. The riding doesn't seem as prolific as in SA or I just havn't settled into the scene yet. In fact I'm probably the only F800GS I ever see on the roads. Care for another riding buddy? Cheers

    Strange "rotational" noise - 2014 F800GS 20 000km

Rooi you biscuit! I loosened it up again and the noise is gone. Pretty sure the chain is too loose now though, but I'm going to turn the screws half a revolution each day over the next few days till I get the right tension/noise balance.

    Strange "rotational" noise - 2014 F800GS 20 000km

Hi Guys Looking for some advice. I recently got a puncture on the rear. After I replaced the tube and put everything back together, I noticed the chain was quite loose. I put it on the side stand, tightened it up to specification of between 35mm and 45mm play in the middle. Now I have this...

    Mini Braai grids

I just purchased one of these from Flying Brick. ATG braai. Very compact, easy to setup, just enough to braai 2 steaks. https://www.atgear.co.za/camp-fire/21-atg-ultra-light-barbecue-grid.html Local is lekker!

    Places to practice

Thanks! I know that road so I'll give it a shot. I really want to get a better feel for the bike when it breaks traction. Its all heart in mouth stuff at the moment and despite the training I still have an initial reaction of sitting down and grabbing on for dear life when that happens. Want to...

    Places to practice

Hi All So I just completed the Country Trax Introduction to Offroad riding. I want to build on that skill by practicing, but not while out on a ride. Are there any flat (ish) open fields or open areas that's not too sandy where one can go and just muck about to practice emergency braking...

    Share your routes !!!

Hi All Tried this route today. Trying to take the gravel roads to Riebeek Kasteel. If you look in the google earth file (hope I did it right), you'll see a waypoint called "Closed Gate". Is this private land or can one go through there? I didn't just want to open the gate because I didn't know...

What did you do to your Bike today?

Fitted wider foot pegs. Struggled with the springs, but a small blood blister later and they're on! Fitted Tomtom Rider V5 (premium pack) with anti-theft RAM mount. Hooked it up to the spare CANbus connection on top of the battery so that it works on the ignition. Fitted a 12v socket directly...

    Riding and studying? seriously?

Hi Wild Dogs So I'm studying this year and its also the year I got my bike. Needless to say, the studies are taking up all my time and the need to ride is burning a hole in my thoughts so big that there isn't much left over for academia. I need to sort that out! I'm working on my dissertation...

    F800 clutch noise.

When I pop it into neutral and release the clutch it rattles. I was wondering about it until I read this post. I guess it must be normal then. I have a 2014 F800GS with 1500km on it. I notice it when I drive up my driveway which has walls on either side so the sound is amplified. It's not a bad...

    F800GS Fuel range calculation

    Yoh - That's 256km roughly (assuming you used all 16l) Or R0.88 per km (R14 per litre) Or at 160kmph that's R2.35 per minute.  ;D Still....better than a car.

    Service Center

Thanks for all the advice. I can also now confirm that they offer a loan bike if you request it. If you do though, the first available service date may be longer that you expected so watch those km to ensure you don't go too far over the 1000km mark. They said they're still happy up to about...
