my experience with straters has led me to believe a good clean then a smear of bog std. wheel bearing grease.you want something that has high heat properties as a starter moter can get quite hot . hope that helps

hi davie did the run last year. was good fun. the old xt 500 took a bit of heat but nothing to stress over. will ride from ottery again this year and will join at forries and then to maynardville. look fwd to meeting up. cheers tinker ;D
