Rob - wrt self-catering, own tent participants, it is just me and Peter Gage. The others (loewelife, Rex) have bailed. We’ll pay you in cash on arrival.

All those gravel roads you describe have a certain timeless quality, and all are subtly different each time one rides them. As a matter of interest, how quiet is that Peperboom campsite - I’m thinking traffic noise from the nearby tar road …?

Smitskraal crossing is knee deep, but stable. Some of the passes are mildly washed out, and feel just technical enough to make you want to commit to a line, but in truth are not onerous. Right now is a fabulous time to ride it, with all the other crossings vibrant with clear mountain water...

and get a proper front tyre!

That 640 vibrates a shed load more than a KLR or a DR 650 …

Did i mention that i'm coming, to camp in my own tent? With possibly Loewelife, Peter Gage , and Rex, all on bona fide thumpers?
