    Tell me about towels.

+1 for the pure cotton kikoi / sarong / Turkish towel. That's all I ever use. The trick with cotton though is that it becomes more absorbent the more you use / wash it. So if you buy a brand new one you'll need to soak it in cold water overnight and wash it a couple of times before it starts...

Warming that cold spot on your back .

Get yourself a nice padded kidney belt and wear it over a thermal vest. Used to wear one all the time while riding when I lived in Switzerland and it did the trick for me.

    Classic styled Commuter

Very nice! I owned an SR250 when I lived in Switzerland in the early 2000's. Many happy memories, they are great little machines! Here is a pic of the one I had:

    DR650 Tyre choices

For me, the best value for money, best on-road / off-road compromise are the stock Bridgestone trail wings (not sure of the exact numbers, think its a TW42 rear and TW41 front?) I've been pretty much everywhere with these and am very happy with them.

    The DR650 thread

Thanks all. I will check all my switches again, although I know for a fact that the kill switch IS faulty. However, does the kill switch not also cut power to the starter motor? In the scenario described above, all the bike electrics work (lights, etc.) and the starter motor works fine. Only the...

    Neck braces

Hi all, is there a significant difference between a neck brace designed/sold for use on a bicycle vs. one for a motorcycle? And for riding on tar vs off-road? Thanks

    The DR650 thread

Hello all, so my DR650 has started doing something strange lately where it refuses to start occasionally. It happened the other day with the engine warm. Started fine at home, rode for about 30min, parked on level sidewalk for 6 or 7min max, got on to go home and it refused to start. I even...

    DR650 Slipping clutch/ replacement?

Hi, so not sure if this is the norm, but my clutch has also started slipping now at 69'000km. Haven't serviced or done anything with the oil in a while. My guess is that it's simply time to replace the clutch plates.

    Mattress for a trip

+1 for the Klymit matt, they're awesome. You also get an orange one which has added insulation. Available from Cape Union Mart I think. N

Yip, every week. I also regularly exchange my 9kg gas bottle on the bike. Don't own a car :-)

    Wanted: DR650 fuel tap

Yes, Thank you lecap. I discovered that although no-one stocks a repair kit for the DR650 specifically, one CAN get a repair kit for the GSF600 Bandit fairly easily - and they are identical! Bought one at Startline and was able to repair the original tap perfectly. (The generic replacement tap...
