Now if that is the marketing strategy I am extremely confused. How exactly will the G450X and the new superbike contribute to this new plan?? It seems that BMW are putting a lot of effert in both areas. ???

Latests results    * I never go offroad - it's just nice to know I can: 11.73%    * Mostly tar - I go offroad very seldom: 34.35%    * About half-half: 38.78%    * I ride mostly dirt with not much tar riding: 15.31% This just proves again that marketing people are not particularly strong...

    1150 GS -100 000kms [12/09/08]

Too much jumping over speed bumps and riding hard on corrugated roads are apparently a killer for drive-shafts. It breaks the rubber inserts that absorbs shock. Mine last about 40000km before it goes. Trying to use less throttle over those bumps and corrugations would probaly solve the problem...

    Funduro or GS650 ?

Have experience with both. The Funduro is bulletproof and very reliable. The GS is probably better for commuting and comfort. If you want to do serious off-road touring go for the Funduro. If you are commuting go for the GS. M 2c

Sal more (23/9/08) my R1150 GS Adv se 100 000km opsit oppad GS challenge toe. Dit sal my en die fiets se vyfde GS challenge op rooi roetes wees. Behalwe twee dryfaste en 'n koppelaar plaat het ek nog geen ander probleme gehad nie.

    F800GS versus R1200GS

The 800 has USD suspension, 21'' front wheel, no pots that get stuck in ruts and is 20kg lighter. Thus much better option for off-road than the 1200 as the extra torque just makes your tyre bill higher. On-road ?? Probably the 1200. Bigger tank, more power, probably more stable in wind and...

Would you go to the KTM RR again (or GS Challenge) ?

Contrary to popular belief the first GSC was in 2004  ;D. Location - Country Trax Amersfoort Cost was R950. Number of participants- 99 including marshalls/sweepers. Still in my opinion probably the best event of them all. Very well organised and the numbers were of such a nature that there...

    Please wave!

Just watch out for the fork and spade on your right. I think they do not like orange as the fork is showing teeth  ;D See you at the challenge. Please do not walk on the Bedouine tent (especially not carrying that fork - we might get rain!!!). Deon's redness might just exceed the legal limit.  ;)

What's the best bike in the world?

After much deliberation I have to differ from all your opinions.  >:D My dream bike is definitely a Triumph (Any model). Some models I would like to ride can be viewed at this link: https://www.triumph.com/.  ;)

    more stupid questions

On USD shocks - It reduces the unsprung mass It all has to do with inertia and the ratio between sprung and unsprung mass Sprung mass = bike Unsprung mass = wheel The higher the unsprung mass in comparison to the sprung mass the higher the acceleration and transfer of shock to the sprung...

What's the best bike in the world?

There is no such thing as the best bike!!. It all depends on your requirements and because mine differ a lot I need about four bikes. (Trials, Enduro, Dual sport and Track racing) So the best bike is the one you can afford and has got logistic support when it breaks. But I prefer the bike...

For Gideon - The flying AT

Just proofs again that with some skill and the right angle you can make pigs seem to fly  ;) If I install a camera on the tar next to a speed bump we might get a few interesting pics  ;D

IS it ONLY me (SCARED SHIRTLESS)

I was actually on that course with Gideon. It was quite hilarious. Between him and my cousin they had about 30 spills. And that was not because of being scared believe me. I still remember Gideon losing his Yellow "Angel" in a bush full of flowers. He was actually walking around in the flowers...
