He had parked on the side of the road and walked back to save a dog that must have been hit by a vehicle. He was then hit by a car. I could not figure out what had happened initially because there was no mangled bike.

It must have happened a few minutes before me but DOA I'm afraid.  :'(

KTM 1190S Did not know the rider but saw him in traffic almost every second day. Always courteous. He had stopped to pick up an injured dog on the highway. Condolences to family and friends. Stay safe.

Eish, only saw this now. I had the same thing on my 990 and was also suspecting the base gasket. Turns out it was the oil pressure sensor... New 50c copper washer and torqued up correctly - SOLVED!  :biggrin: It sits in the V, at the back of the front cylinder - quite difficult to get to...

Just saying that VR probably had a good idea where mm was before he moved back into line. VR was clearly ahead at that stage and mm should have conceded - although you don't get to race at that level if you are a pushover. Cant wait for the next race - in Spain!

My KLE is on 72k km. Only the rectifier has popped. I recon the oil capacity on this engine has something to do with its longevity. It holds more than my 990?! Also, my 180cc Bajaj (no laughing) is on 54k km. Nothing has broken

I found that out (the HARD way) a few years ago.  :biggrin: Juuust when you think you can gooi mielies...

Thanks Burp! Will spend some quality time with the XR after my trip (not on the XR)  ;) As to the cause - cant be the oil. I do that every 2k km

So, the auto decompressor is stuck open and the bike wont start. When this happened before (once) I was able to cure it by pushing the bike in gear. This time, not so lucky. Has anyone removed this before? (not talking about the manual decompressor that you operate from the handlebar, but...

Thought this was an April fools...
