Thanks Mzee it was, never expected it to be so easy. Was told beforehand to use a smaller bike. My Strom came through in the end. Some off-road training with the BMW guys helped with the balance and slow riding though.

Fortunately nothing serious! The front spark plug was just loose. Probably not tightened enough when installed. Bike OK again!

Any idea of what it can be? Expected damage ($$) to repair?

@POM I need some help. This morning my bike died on me. It lost power and it sound as if air is blowing out from the engine. Did I blow a head gasket? Thanks Jacques

Battlestar, I do not know. The technical guys (POM) should be able to answer that. I did not feel anything, but I hear a lot more now!!

I drilled some holes in the exhaust next to the "peashooter". Sounds a lot more than a 1000 now than before!

This weekend I practiced to stand and ride again. I found that if I stand upright I actually have to hold onto the handle bars to stay upright. This then means that throttle control become very difficult. I think one of the reasons is that I do not bend my knees and stand straight legs. Some...

I don't know how long you have been with the 1000.  I would suggest you take your time and get used to it.  Maybe you have many years of riding under your belt Meaning????

Thanks for the info Pom! I am portly as well so maybe just change the front sprocket as per your suggestion. i am also only doing long distance trips on tar roads, but will do the occasional dirt road. I will try the first suggestion (could not remember bigger or smaller) first and change back...
