So got the frame back from painting yesterday. Took the time to use a syringe and inject rust convertor/deactivator into the frame and swirled it around to coat as much as possible of the interior of the frame ( expect for the oil chamber of course. Let it drain out and once dry, sprayed on wax...

Thanks guys for the advice. The frame has gone to media blasted and then repainted. Not going to bother with PC, using Diamond hard clear coat used on Mercedes Benz for good chip resistant qualities. Next up will be steering head bearings and then to rebuild the forks and rear shock

Well, stripped the rest of the bike today, all wheel bearings, swing arm and linkage bearings are all shot. The swing arm is toast due to poor maintenance, removed chain guide, to find the chain had worn the swing arm paper thin. Pictures to follow later. The frame is bare and I whipped out high...

Some pics during tear down. Steering bearings shot, rough & notchy. Front & rear shocks leaking. Front & rear sprockets worn. Frame rusted but can be saved. Need a good powder coater in Gauteng that can do Yamaha blue pearl on the frame.

Just bought myself a '05 WR450F that needs a bit of TLC, after stripping some items it turns out the bike needs a lot more work than expected. So my direction has changed from TLC to custom resto to my own liking. Some pics before the tear down started.
