McLovin, mine has been doing it for some time. I have exactly the same symptoms. When the light lights up, I top it up with some fresh oil and it disappears for a good while. My bike is on 38k kms. Let me know if you find another solution. Regards Daniel

Subie thanks. That was already done the previous time without success. LeCap, it is a 2003 XT600e, one of the last ones. The problem started when my chain came off causing the shaft on which the front sprocket is to bend. The shaft was replaced, and this was the start of the problem with 1st gear.
