Sometimes plating can lead to some unexpected challenges. I sent these oil feed pipes in to a local plating works - no name necessary & got them back looking ok. Stripped & cleaned the starter motor. All good. New header / stem bearings needed. Can you believe it, I pressed the lower bearing on & then realised I had left the dust seal off.......... Man, what a job to get it off without damaging it! Stripping & cleaning the final bits & wiring.

yes, interesting comment .... I've sand blasted & sprayed already. My previous XR (1994 model) did some hectic riding and the frame never cracked, hopefully this frame is made of the same materials ...... Please post a few pics here.

Any suggestions on relocation. Not quite there yet. I know they crack under "full tank load" at the weld - on the frame....

Cleaned the carb up with burnishing compound, worked pretty well. Cant take everything to get vapor blasted ..... Then the air box. Stripped & sprayed the steel mounting bracket. Cleaned & silicon spray. New stainless nuts & washers.

Basically - down to basics! Stripped everything down to the bear frame - so pleased I did it! Some terrible surface rust that would have progressed really badly. It was not good ......
