Too much washing will dry out bushings like in the brake and clutch levers, even the cables get moisture in them so its a good idea to lube these bits regularly if your anal about keeping it spotless.Silicone spay is a good practice as it keeps corrosion at bay.Just keep it away from your brakes. ;)

you want 3/8 drive sockets for working on bikes.Not as thick as 1/2 inch and way stronger than quater inch. As far as the torque wrench goes my choice would be Britool or warren and brown.You shouldn,t need more than 150nm torque anywhere on a bike.
