I used a guy to take a bike from East London to Cape Town a few years ago. i think it was Ferdies transport and remember he was from Hermanus./Onrus area. Had no problems with him but not sure if he still operates.

I am the proud owner of one of these and have been really impressed with the way BMW have handled the recall. They have gone out of their way to try to minimise the inconvenience.Also offered new bike swops or loan bikes while problem gets sorted. Luckily I have alternative 2wheel transport so...

Des had done 1 325 000 on his Gold Wing as of May 2011 when he came to EL....goodness knows how much more by now!

OK thanks.  My garmin was stolen and I have a bike and car bracket available if anyone is interested. . The newer models dont have the same connections as far as I am aware so it is useless to me.

Someone posted recently(past 2 months?) looking for a bike bracket for a Garmin 550 (or is it a 500?) and I cannot find the post nor remember who it was that was looking. I may be able to help so if anyone remembers who it was please let me know.

I have just received my newly chromed parts and can report that the quality is excellent. The exhaust , which is Stainless steel was only given a polish and has come out as good as new....no sign of any discolouring. Can recommend them for any work in the PE area. Chromeworks.  0414841533

Thanks for the quick responses.  I have made contact with Chrome Works in Sidwell(Peter) and have sent the parts to him for chroming.He tells me he does plenty work on bikes, especially rebuild projects. Will let you know thw results when I get parts back.

I am building up an old BMW and need some parts chromed(exhausts, handlebars,various smalls) and want to find a place in PE to do this for me. Can anyone recommend a business that does this? 

I bought a Touratech seat which lowers the bike and is extremely comfortable compared to standard BMW seat. Needed the lower seat and BMW low seat is even more uncomfortable than the standard. Expensive but worth it in my opinion

Anyone with advice regarding a lowering kit for the 800? I have had a quote from Touratech for a Hyperpro Lowering Kit and have read some good reports on the Mororrad website but have not seen anything here. I understand that besides lowerin the bike by 50mm it also stiffens up the suspension...
