    Shock spanner for KTM 640A

I didn't get a spanner for adjusting the preload on the rear shock when I bought my bike, as the toolkit had been lost, and I want to get hold of one. I need to figure out what I'm looking for, and where to look. The manual calls it a "hook spanner", is this the same as a C-spanner? What size...

    Not more quarry pics?!

I had a good ride, thanks for all the advice and help getting unstuck. Sorry for making everyone wait at the end there :( Only took my camera out briefly and took a sequence of my buddy Andy riding around, here are a couple of pics: Dudes standing around far far away :P Andy

Changing from the dark side to the other side

I absolutely agree, although I can see 950/990/GS riders all finding the 800 just as tempting. Just by the way, I did some power to weight calculations and comparisons a while back and the 800 looks pretty good. Its kinda confusing, it looks like a sensible hooligans bike. Seriously, it...

TOPBIKE - disc lock subscription offer

Don't worry man, I'll steal your Strom  ;D >:D  Where do you park it? It's a cool offer, though I'm way too forgetful to use a disc lock. What about a quality tire pressure gauge for next time (a bit DS specific I suppose)?

    Shoei Hornet

Not sure which pics you mean ??? but I guess it did then.. in the pics I've seen some had the pins some didn't. I was just curious because of the discussions on the Arai fogging up, the pinlock thing works like a bomb. The Arai TX comes with something similar now right? If the peak doesn't...

WC: In the mood for going to the quarry for a quicky Thursday the 31st-who else?

eish, I've always been fond of the grey areas  :) want to be there, will have to make a last minute decision though. What time?

Did it come with the pinlock anti-fog insert you get on the Shoei road helmets?

Evaluation a 2nd bike and how to check out the owner before buying.

Hope it's ok if I add some wisdom I learned the hard way here (more than one bad experience)... One thing that is expensive and painful to sort out is messed up wheels, and they are actually really easy to check, even if the bike only has a sidestand. Just get the owner or friend to tug on some...

    Honda RVF400 NC35

Good bikes, generally they are pricey for a 400 though, and some have been given a really hard time.  Those motors are awesome and nearly bullet proof, I love the sound of gear driven cams  ;D - there's one at Suzuki South with around 200 000 km on it  :o  If this one is in as good condition as...

WC: In the mood for going to the quarry for a quicky Thursday the 31st-who else?

Aargh kak, I'm so gutted I missed it, I was jonesing for a ride so hard yesterday, landed up pulling my bike apart instead.  >:( :sad1: Please please can we set up a sticky WC Quarry ride thread so we can subscribe and not miss out?

lol, I'm heading the other direction so I must remember to save a bit of energy for the clenching on the way back :)

    More Sand Saturday 19/1/2008

I did have a look at that compressor, looks good, but it looks like it'll draw more than 10 amps. I also reckon you can probably get something smaller... That is probably very good exercise  :P Better than those infomercial electronic muscle spasm gizmos anyway  ;D

    More Sand Saturday 19/1/2008

The manual says 21 psi (1.45 bar) for offroad, and I've gone with that so far with no problems that I am aware of. I'm guessing the manual is conservative and that you could go lower. How are you guys re-inflating afterwards? Last time I was in the area I just clenched my butt cheeks and tried...

    More Sand Saturday 19/1/2008

Hahaha, well it would make me feel better to know that there is someone around who knows how to scrape me up off the ground properly.  If you'd just sold me insurance I'd try crazy stuff if you recommended it, a bad crash would probably hurt you more than me  :P Don't worry, we've all seen...

    More Sand Saturday 19/1/2008

I think I've done 6 offroad rides so far, so we're in the same boat I think  :) I have no problem with my noob status though, I'm really enjoying the process of learning. Just a half hour of hard riding has me exhausted, but it's enough to fill my brain with tons of new stuff. I can't believe...

    More Sand Saturday 19/1/2008

If my bike is not in pieces and certain planets align I'll be there, so +1 640 noob. A tip from one n00b to another (and this may sound like bad advice): don't fill your tank up, because unless you're very fit I doubt you'll need 28l of fuel for a few hours of buggering around in the sand...

    More Sand on Saturday 29/12/07

Leftless, I need some advice  :) I'm seriously out of shape and have less than 10 minutes cumulative dirt experience, though I've been riding bikes for ages and have a decent hospital plan ;D Will Saturday's ride be too much of a stretch for me? I figure I would learn loads even just by...

    Topbike Jan/Feb issue

I agree on the distribution issues, I bought what I think might have been one of the first issues, and after that I picked up the new issue each time I saw one in the local Spar. At some point I stopped seeing them though, and haven't been buying with any regularity since. Placement in...
