I will never regret parking the 800 and getting a 690. Muuuuch more fun than a 800. Not as comfortable, but us okes harden up quickly. 690 is a monster on dirt. "Put a 16 tooth sprocket on the front and do it!"

:biggrin: I think I am going to do it, a mate of mine also joining on a highly modified 650 X-Challenge. Strategy : Get FIT... I am sure that it will not be a walk in the park. - Oh, and then we need to make sure that 690 lasts the distance, so a lot of riding for now... Really looking...

RIP Mr Palante Gniel's Toyota team assisted Mr Palante with some spares and helped him straighten his exhaust last night.  Apparently his 11th Dakar, does it by himself out of passion, no crew, nothing. Very sad indeed.

Does not sound like a bad idea. Spent R 1300 on the DNA filter, that didn't work, now I have to fork out 1000 more moolas for the bloody Unifilter kit. My oil problems are still not sorted - bike lost all its oil again on a tar trip down to Kei mouth. And after 6 days in the shop nobody know...

It usually has to do with front to back balance. I get it with luggage at high speeds. I found that my suspension settings from factory were completely out. You can play with preload. I also get a bad headshake on the 690 due to the extra tanks in the front. When I move my wheight back on the...

Yeah I guess. No need to do engine numbers- new engine has same number - they sent a motor with a blank engine number, so got fitted / engraved with exactly the same one.
