81 GS PD Project

Hi there

About to embark on rebuild of my 81 GS PD and was hoping for some guidance and advise… She still pulls like a train and rides like a dream, but is showing signs of her age and needs to some TLC… Wanat her to last another 40yrs

Hoping for some guidance on good suppliers and service providers:

• Sandblasting/bead blasting/aquablasting – pre-paint prep?
• Auto-electrician
• Tank spray, decals and knee pads?
• New pipe headers?

Also have a couple of technical questions:

• Electrics - Considering replacing the 40yr old loom with an Motogadget M-Unit – has anybody used and installed one of these? Are they as good as they look, and are there any installation challenges I need to be aware of? It seems they are not designed for old school switchgear?
• Bolt specification – what specification do I replace bolts with?
• Tank internals reconditioning - No issues with dirty petrol or anything like that, but have heard its wise to reline your tank? If so where can I get this done?
• Anodizing rims- is this viable and worth doing? If so where can I get this done?
• Don't have any plans for engine work, but what should I look out for when I strip her down to make sure this is the right call?

Any other guidance and /or contacts would be much appreciated.
