1980 DUCATI PANTAH 500 SL
The first of Ducati's 'new generation' of desmodromic v-twins, the Pantah made its debut in 500cc form in 1978. Designed by Fabio Taglioni, the Pantah engine abandoned the Bologna company's traditional shaft-and-bevels camshaft drive in favour of toothed rubber belts. With 46bhp available at the back wheel, the Pantah was capable of close to 120mph, which was some going for a 500cc four-stroke in those days. A straight-tube trellis frame and triple Brembo disc brakes ensured that the Pantah handled and stopped as well as it went in a straight line. This is an early example of a fast-appreciating modern classic, this Pantah 500 SL.
The bike comes with original fairing which would require restoration if required. The bike runs really well and often get used for out rides.
This particular example has a history going back where it was apparently once owned/raced by Wynand Strydom ex South African Drag racing champion. The 2 into one pipe is quite unique and sounds awesome, originally built for racing. The front and rear tyres are brand new.
