What was originally planned to be a silly little budget weekend away for the boys to let their hair down and Party hard turned on it's head when all the beautiful WAG's decided that they didn't want to miss out on the fun. What a blessing this turned out to be and it turned The Adventure Academy's first "don't be a Doos in Tonteldoos!" weekend into one of the est trips of my year so far!

Friday morning we all departed M&B Cambridge Crossing for Kempton Park and the railways that would lead us all the way to Bronkies and the well known off road route around Loskop Dam and into Tonteldoos.
A brilliant ride was had by all and the scenery was really pleasant in places. Pity Loskop is so dry, but that didn't deter us from having a lekker lunch alongside it's banks.

All in all 17 people joined this little trip and we we're all very happy to get to The Highside Tavern (The old Planters pub) and swallow a celebratory drink!

The next 8 hours disapeared in a haze of smoke an booze with us hitting the hay a little bit later than anticipated, but hey, we've ALL made that mistake on the first night haven't we! The main reason we should have been saving ourselves and getting a good night's sleep was the fact the old Peter and Shaun McBride, the new owners of The Highside Tavern had organised a groot opskop and employed the services of DJ Werner Roseler to entertain us for Saturday night!

Saturdays outride was a casual affair of 140km and honestly, it was one of the most special rides that I can remember. Lovely rolling gravel roads through the mountains interspersed with a couple of twisty tar passes led us all the way to a gnarly final 20km stretch into Dullstroom and a fantastic lunch at The Dullstroom Inn.

Blasting it back to Tonteldoos, I smashed a quick beer before we set off into the mountains of the Wooly Bugger farm for a round of sun downers on top of the world! A very cool descent in the dark kept us on our toes and deposited us back at The Highside Tavern in time for a shower and dinner before the mother of all parties commenced!

I'll let the pictures do the talking from here onwards...
